Excerpts (Part 3) from Jan 14, 2011 cell group meeting in Ooty.
We understood that in Genesis 5:3 Adam had kids but in his own image.
But in Genesis:1:26 we understand God created man, in His own image. Now between those two things something happened; we understand ‘the fall of man’ but we need to understand: What happened and How God has provided a solution for that.Let’s go to 1 Corinthians 15:45
‘And so it is written, The first man Adam became a Living Being; the last Adam became a life giving spirit.
Oh hang on a second, the first Adam became what? – a ‘Living Being”’ and the last Adam became: a life giving spirit. Keep that ‘Living being’ word in your mind. Let’s go to Genesis 3:20
“And Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.”
This happened after man fell. After man sinned and according to God’s eyes after man had died. This man decides to call his wife what? The Mother of all the living. So according to God’s eyes, what we call living is what? Dead.
But man decides to call Eve the Mother of all the living. And it says indeed: Adam was a living being, but Jesus, the last Adam, is a life giving spirit.
A living being is dead before God. Eternally separated from God. Do you understand? That is what we might even call the flesh, not in the book of life and thrown in the lake of fire, that is what a living being is.
A Living Spirit that is a life giving Spirit, is alive to God and spends Eternity with Jesus And it is what the bible refers to as the Spirit. The struggle between the Flesh and the Spirit…and has it’s name in the book of life and lives eternally in the new heavens created by God.
Do you see the difference?
The life that we know and we see around us is actually death before God and it’s to be thrown where? In the lake of fire. Now keep this in mind, Let’s go to John 3:3
“No-one can see the Kingdom of God unless he is born again”
What does John 4:24 say?
“God is Spirit”….wait God is what? “God is spirit” OK Now, Let’s go back to Genesis 1:26
God creates man in whose image? In God’s image. So who is God? God is Spirit. So, what is it that is in man that is created in God’s image? The Spirit of God.
See basically God made heaven and earth….took mud, formed it, and made a clump that had five fingers, one nose, two ears everything like this… and then what did he do? He breathed life into it. That’s what Genesis says in chapter one.
And that’s how the image of God in man was the Spirit inside of man…and what died? The spirit died and that’s why without the spirit the children that man had were born in man’s image. Do you understand? That’s why the second Adam is what? A life giving Spirit, so eternal life is in the Spirit.
You have to have the Spirit of God in you.
