We get the word Gospel from Old English “gōd spell ” which means “good news”. The good news is that God sent his only son to reconcile you and me with him. His son, Jesus, dwelt among us, was crucified on the cross for our sins, died and rose again because death could not hold him. He is now alive and will come back.
This sentence raises a lot of questions. What is sin? Why do I need to be reconciled to God? Who is God? Where is he? If Jesus is coming back, do I need to prepare myself to see ghosts and apparitions since he was once dead? Should I be worried about this? Who the hell is Satan?
Through The Lamp and Light Post, I attempt to answer such questions topically from the Bible. The name Lamp and Light Post is is based on Psalm 119:105 – “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path”. Post can mean either an upright wood/metal support for a lamp /light or an established mail system.
About the content.
All posts have the Holy Bible as its root source. To not reinvent the wheel, I’ve compiled works from many great men and women of God to help you reconcile yourself with God.
Unless otherwise indicated, the material is taken from the copyright free Shepherd’s Staff. This is advisable to keep in mind when you read an author’s account of how he visited Japan after WW2, before I was even born, or when another author talks lovingly of his Norwegian wife, for example. Other sources will be listed at the bottom of the page or in the introduction of the topic/series.
